The rules are extremely simple!
1. Have good manners at all times! Please don’t abuse Saturdays On Main Street Scramble staff, volunteers, fellow contestants, or anyone else for that matter. If you do, it’s ground for being disqualified.
2. Along the course—the three to five-block radius of Center Square, please don’t litter or break anything.
3. Keep your passport and stay warm! Be sure to wear your Scramble badge.
4. Please be fair to all other Scramblers:)
5. You’re only allowed to use public transport such as rabbittransit. Use of cars, motorcycles, helicopters, scooters, taxi’s, horse-taxi’s, rickshaws, rollerblades, and anything else is prohibited. We want to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to win.
6. Have lots of fun!
What do I need to bring?
A fully charged camera or cell phone (for picture taking). It’s highly recommended to bring a portable computer or smart phone for “Googling” solutions to clues. Please note: All “picture clues” must be on a camera or phone!!
How do you actually win?
You can collect all the correct clues and place either first, second or third.
What’s the minimum/maximum age to participate?
There is none. Children in strollers are discouraged. Competitors as young as 10-years-old and as fit as 68!
What time should I get there?
The Holidaze Scramble will be held from 2 – 5:30 p.m. We recommend that you arrive at 1:30 p.m. at the Hanover Theater to check-in, get acclimated, stretch, make some reindeer noises (optional), and get all your questions out of the way so you’re mentally prepared at take-off. The check-in table is located under the Hanover Theater’s marque, located at 39 Frederick St. Once participants have completed the scramble, they should return to the Hanover Theater.
How do I form a team?
Forming a team is pretty easy. Register here or visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/105257166173776/ and send us a Facebook email with up to five people. An approximate is fine, but no more than five teammates.
How small or large can a team be?
An average winning team is usually between three and five people.
How do I get to the clues?
Some may walk fast, others will jog, and we expect a few sprints at the finishing line. No bicycles, roller blades, unicycles, hovercraft, helicopters, or auto transportation is allowed with the exception of local public transit (rabbittransit).
I have a group of high school kids. Do I get any special treatment for working with young people?
Yes, you definitely do. For youth groups ages 17 and younger, register your entire team and pay for all, except the chaperones. Cost is $10 for every five young people registered on the team. We allow one chaperone in for free, compliments of Saturdays on Main Street. Once the team is registered, send us a message using our Facebook Main Street Hanover page with all the chaperone names and the team name. Thanks for your hard work and helping out in your community!
What are the prizes?
First place = $200 for the team
Second place = $100 for the team
Third place = $50 for the team
Do I get anything with registration?
Yep! You’ll get a Passport, your own race badge, great savings, awesome live entertainment, and an extremely memorable experience. You will pick up all of your materials at the Saturdays on Main Street table located under the Hanover Theater marque.
