DESCRIPTION:This webinar is made possible through a generous Quality of Life grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation\n\n \nDescription\n\nAs aging seniors go through landmark ages\, 60\, 70\, 80\, change and loss is inevitable. Those experiences can bring about feelings of fear\, anxiety\, and anger. It is imperative that support staff are able to help bring balance between the losses and joy.\n\nThis training will discuss support an understanding of Dementia and Alzheimer's. The below objectives will be covered in through supportive information and a video. The 5 Stages of Grief is a process that helps aging adults to acknowledge\, process and express their experiences of loss. The Five Stages of Grief will be examined through a common loss of mobility. Families and staff will be provided with strategies to help aging adults cope with loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\nObjectives\n\n\n	Understanding dementia and Alzheimer's\n	Defining communication\n	Exploring change and loss in aging patients\n	Grieving loss\n	The 5 stages of grief\n	Impact of COVID pandemic\n	Coping strategies for change during COVID\n	Identify the increased adverse affects with communication and the influence of Social Determinants of Health to persons with motor impairments\, as a result of Covid-19\n	Review ways to create a disability-inclusive response during the pandemic\n\n\nTarget Audience\n\nThis training is for older adults\, and those living with paralysis\, as well as those who provide care to individuals living with paralysis. In addition\, this training is also for those who work in community settings such as aging care managers\, housing staff\, nurses\, social workers\, counselors\, acute care and long-term care staff\, substance abuse and mental health providers\, as well as family members.
