SUMMARY:Isolation in Older Adults – Managing Adjustments after the Losses of the Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is made possible through a generous\n\nQuality of Life Grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation\n\n\n\nThis training is focused mainly on individuals with paralysis. As aging seniors go through landmark ages\, 60\, 70\, 80\, change and loss is inevitable\, especially with the impact of the Pandemic. When mobility is impacted\, those feelings of fear\, anxiety\, and anger can be exacerbated. It is imperative that support staff and family members are able to help bring balance between the losses and joy. The below objectives will be covered in through supportive information and a video. The stages of grief is a process that helps aging adults to acknowledge\, process and express their experiences of loss. The experience of grief and loss will be examined through a loss of mobility. Families and staff will be provided with strategies to help aging adults cope with loss during the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\nObjectives\n\n\n	Understanding dementia and Alzheimer's\n	Communication\n	Exploring and understanding change and loss in aging patients\n	Impact of COVID pandemic\n	Coping strategies for change during COVID\n\n\nTarget Audience: This training is for older adults\, and those living with paralysis\, as well as those who provide care to individuals living with paralysis. In addition\, this training is also for those who work in community settings such as aging care managers\, housing staff\, nurses\, social workers\, counselors\, acute care and long-term care staff\, substance abuse and mental health providers\, as well as family members.
