YWCA HANOVER CEO ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
[HANOVER, PA]—After 12 years of dedicated service, YWCA Hanover’s Chief Executive Officer Jody Shaffer announced her retirement, effective June of this year. “Knowing intimately what this YWCA has accomplished gives me profound joy and pride in the many positive contributions we have offered to the greater Hanover community, York and Adams counties,” said Shaffer. “Service to others in my hometown has been the greatest privilege of my lifetime.”
Shaffer transformed YWCA Hanover’s budget by creating new, diverse funding streams. She grew new programs and services during her tenure and has continued to enhance the personnel benefit package to improve recruitment and retention of YWCA employees. She developed partnerships with key stakeholders and donors, establishing a solid reputation as a leading nonprofit in Hanover. More recently, Shaffer acquired eight real estate properties to expand YWCA Hanover, while successfully developing and implementing the first capital campaign in nearly 50 years, raising over $10 million to build an Early Learning Center to meet the growing need for childcare services in our community and to renovate the current YWCA building.
The Board of Directors established a CEO Transition Team to oversee the vetting and hiring of the next CEO. Shaffer is confident this change will bring new energy and drive to an already exceptionally dynamic organization.
